The Problem And The Solution

This post is a summary of a life help perspective that I refer to as spiritual life help. I consider this spiritual life help perspective — which is influenced and inspired by the works A Course in Miracles and The Infinite Way — in detail in a spiritual books series called Metaphysical Truths (MetaphysicalTruths.com) and also through the life help platform Life Help Journal (LifeHelpJournal.com). I’m putting this post up because I want to provide insight about spiritual life help in an open source way, for those who can’t access it another way or don’t want to. A single post won’t offer as much information as a book series or a life help platform does because it’s not as extensive, but this writing will, hopefully, provide some valuable insight.

A single problem

You might think that you have a particular problem, a single problem that you’re presently dealing with, but it’s very unlikely that you believe that you only ever have a single problem. In other words, you’ve only had one problem in the past, you’ll only have one problem in the future, you only have one problem now, there is only one problem. What is that single problem? Misperception. You are not seeing what is actually there and are seeing what isn’t actually there. What is actually there is a heaven state; and the reason a heaven state is there is because of God and particular traits of God: God is the only power and is only good. God is not a power of good, God is the only power and is only ever good. This truth of God means two things — first that God is, as the only power, the only creator and that if God doesn’t make something nothing makes it; and two, only blessings come from God. If only God creates and God creates only good then existence must be a heavenly state. But heaven is not what we are experiencing. In fact, many of us are experiencing something closer to hell.

The solution

Is the heaven state somewhere to be found, is it something we have to try and get our way into? No, heaven is at hand now and we all reside there — this must be so if only God creates and God creates only good. The reason we are experiencing inharmony and difficulty, the reason we experience lack and loss and suffering, the reason we witness injustice and catastrophe and the suffering of others, is because we are misperceiving; heaven is there but we’re not experiencing it. This means there’s only one ever one problem: misperception. And there’s only ever one solution: get beyond misperception and experience the truth of what’s there. We don’t need to overcome various problems as these problems, all of them, are only misperception in some form or another. Get clear of misperception and experience truth, that is the only approach that makes sense. The obvious question now is, how do we get clear of misperception?

By ending the experience of being separate from God.

Separation

We are not actually separate from God, the presence of God is always with us and is our source for being; we are sustained by God, this must be true if God is the only power. But we are disconnected from the presence of God because we do not recognize this presence. Our focus is on the world that seems to be external of us, we are focused without instead of focusing within on the presence of God that resides there. If we should correct this and turn our focus from without to within, from the external world to the internal presence, we will re-establish a conscious connection with God — we will lift the presence of God out of the dormant state and make it active in consciousness, and when God is active misperception in consciousness gets dissolved. The more that God is active in consciousness the more that misperception gets dissolved, and dissolved misperception is experienced as problems and hardships being resolved. Problems and hardship are not actually being resolved because there can’t actually be problems and hardship if God is the only power and only good; it is a misperception of problems and hardship that is being resolved. The mind, in effect, gets healed through God being recognized and brought into mind. The presence of God is the healing agent, if and when that presence is active in mind, is active in awareness.

Connecting with God

So mentally connecting with God, bringing God into awareness or consciousness, is the healing agent; this is how misperception in mind is resolved. How then can we make this mental connection? Through recognizing, through acknowledging, the God presence. First we have to understand where God resides — within us. God is not external of us, somewhere beyond the ether. The kingdom of God is within you. When we make a connection with God we should be turning within, not without, and then we can acknowledge this internal God presence. There are a couple of ways for acknowledging, for recognizing, the God presence:

Thoughts and words: We can express, silently or out loud (being sure not to draw unwanted attention or disturb others), that the presence of God is with us. Here’s one possible example:

“The presence of God is with me, is within me. God is here with me now. Here and now I reside with God.”

Be free to come up with your own expression, whatever feels right for you in recognizing this internal presence. The words are not a power of themselves, they are not a healing agent, they only acknowledge the presence of God that is within each of us, that we are each one with. They are a recognition that God is with us and that we are forever one with this presence.

Silent focus: Rather than using thoughts or words we can keep a silent mental focus on the internal God presence. The way to do this is to turn within in the assumption that the God presence is there and then focus upon it. Here’s an illustration of how this could be done: Consider the device that you’re reading this on. Now turn away from this device or close your eyes so that you cannot see the device. Without looking at the device or speaking words about the device or having thoughts about the device, mentally focus upon it. No sight, no words, no thoughts — just silent mental focus. Were you able to do this? This would be the same approach we would take in silently focusing upon the internal presence of God. No thoughts or words, mentally turning within and assuming that the presence is there, and then focus upon it.

No matter how you should recognize the internal God presence do it as often as you’re able. If God is the only power then God is salvation, God is fulfilment, God is the well-being that so many of us are seeking, so it is to our great benefit to stay connected to this presence. The mind stayed on God shall remain in perfect peace. We don’t need to sequester ourselves, we don’t need to go into a secluded state and remain in silence to connect with the internal God presence; we can be secluded and connect but we can also recognize God as we move through the world living our normal lives. This is a practical approach that is flexible and can meet us wherever we may seem to be.

Going Further

As I’ve said this isn’t meant to be a fully informed, entirely conclusive consideration of spiritual life help. Hopefully it’s provided some insight and a starting point, something concrete that readers can try out and see if there might be something to it.
