If you’re familiar with spiritual life help then you understand that hardship is illusion. It must be illusion because God does not create hardship and God is the only power, the only cause, that there is. Did God cause it? No? Then it’s unreality. The follow up question for some is, how do I get rid of the illusion. Here’s an example of what I mean by this:
Someone on the spiritual path says, “I know that this sickness I’m experiencing is illusion. How do I get rid of this illusion of sickness?” This is an entirely understandable perspective because hardships can be very uncomfortable. Okay it’s an illusion, I get that, but it’s very uncomfortable and causing me to suffer and I want to be rid of it. What’s unreasonable about that? Nothing at all. There is a fundamental error being made however. Let’s take a look.
The initial question asked might be, “How do I get rid of this illness?” After some spiritual training the question may change: “How do I get rid of this illusion?” Now try asking that same question again but replace one word.
“How do I get rid of this illusion?”
becomes —
“How do I get rid of this nothing?”
That is actually the proper question. Why? Because illusion, in the spiritual life help perspective, refers to nothing. Nothing created it, nothing is sustaining it, it came from nothing, nothing is there. It’s nothing. Carnal mind, mesmerism, hypnotism, ego, all of these terms are referring to nothing. They came from nothing, they are nothing. Nothing.
