I’ve written a book titled Metaphysical Truths: A Course in Miracles – Making It Work. I wrote this book as a result of personal experience as much as anything: I studied A Course in Miracles for some time and attempted to apply its teaching as a life help practice, and I found the process difficult. I initially had a difficult time understanding what A Course in Miracles was even saying, what message it was trying to get across. Eventually I did “get” what the Course was saying, what its fundamental teaching was, but I continued to struggle in trying to apply this teaching. I also found that the Course did not put sufficient emphasis on problem solving and dealing with the everyday difficulties people typically face, things like money lack and health problems and relationship troubles, and other common difficulties. In this respect I found A Course in Miracles to be rather impractical. Now all of this shouldn’t be taken to mean that I rejected the Course outright because I certainly did not; actually I found it to be remarkable in many ways, I just couldn’t figure out how to apply it for reliable life help.
Over time, and with the study of additional materials, I came to appreciate not only what A Course in Miracles was teaching but how to apply Course principles in a life help practice. I know how challenging I found practicing the Course to be and I was aware that others have challenges too, even people who have been working with A Course in Miracles for some time. Well, if I had been helped by what I learned about applying Course principles then I figured others could be helped too. Writing a book about my insights seemed like a natural next step.
Metaphysical Truths: A Course in Miracles – Making It Work is a concise writing, I refer to it as a booklet, but I believe it’s quite informative and, even more importantly, is a real help. This is not a book about A Course in Miracles so much as it’s a book about help with life. Yes, principles found within ACIM are part of the process but the focus is on practical and effective assistance with life. And that’s something a lot of people, I believe, can use.
