General Terms of Service
Life help sessions, whether through email or online conversation, are offered as a personal service and are not meant as an alternative to or replacement for medical care or advice. If you have, or believe you may have, a medical condition seek out appropriate medical care. All life help sessions will be conducted in good faith but sessions offer no guarantees, and all sessions are offered as is and are non-refundable. Email sessions may be kept for personal use but may not be distributed in any form. Online conversation sessions may be recorded and kept for personal use but may not be distributed in any form. All life help sessions will be kept confidential unless we are required to discuss a session through legal order, or we otherwise feel compelled to report the details of a session (see Code of Conduct below).
Release of Liability
Life help session participants acknowledge that it is their responsibility to ascertain their own need for professional counseling or therapy and to seek such professional services, as needed. Participants are aware that their participation in life help sessions is not to be construed as a substitute for psychiatric treatment, psychotherapy, therapeutic counseling, or any other form of professional counseling or therapy, or any form of medical assistance.
Life help sessions participants are voluntarily participating in life help sessions and accept complete responsibility for their own psychological, mental, emotional, social, spiritual, and physical well-being. In consideration of their voluntary participation in life help sessions, life help sessions participants, on behalf of themselves and their assigns, heirs, executors, guardians and other legal representatives release, discharge, waive and forever relinquish Thomas M. Williams and thomasMwilliams.com (including their agents, employees, officers, directors, and any members of staff) from any and all claims, known or unknown, arising from or in any way connected with participation or involvement in life help sessions including but not limited to, any information provided to life help sessions participants or statements made during such life help sessions.
Security and Privacy
The safety of your personal information is important to us. All email life help session and online conversation life help session payment transactions will take place through Stripe, an established and secure payment processor. Email addresses that are submitted as part of an email life help session or online conversation session will be used only for the purpose of these sessions, and beyond that will not be shared with anyone.
Code of Conduct
Life help sessions are an environment for communication and presenting insights and suggestions. We believe that in order for this environment to operate smoothly there must be a commitment to respectful interaction. If the interaction is not respectful then communication can break down and the environment can become toxic. With this in mind, all life help session participants are expected to conduct themselves in a respectful and appropriate manner. Hostile, aggressive, and / or vulgar communication and interaction will not be tolerated. Any life help session participant who engages in hostile, aggressive, and / or vulgar communication and interaction will be subject to having their session immediately terminated; and, depending upon the level of hostility, aggression, and / or vulgarity involved, will also be subject to being reported to any enforcement source that we deem appropriate.
Any life help session participant who expresses violent or otherwise threatening intent (including threats of legal action) toward their life help counselor or toward another individual or group of people will be subject to having their life help session terminated and being reported to whatever enforcement source that we deem appropriate. Life help sessions that are terminated for violating code of conduct will not be refunded.
Any prospective life help session participant who feels suicidal should Seek Help before engaging in a life help session, and as soon as possible.
Online Conversation Session Cancellation, Rescheduling, and No-Show Policy
We understand that things sometimes come up and plans must be changed. We do respectfully ask however for consideration for the time and effort we put into managing online sessions, including not having sufficient time to fill a vacated session slot. With this in mind, you may cancel and / or reschedule an online session up to 48 hours in advance. Sessions that are canceled less than 48 hours in advance will be subject to a $15 fee.
We do allow for session rescheduling as needed. Do note however that when a session is rescheduled our records must be updated, which increases our administrative responsibilities. Please use session rescheduling carefully and only when necessary. We reserve the right to cancel a client’s session if they make multiple rescheduling changes. Any session that is canceled because of multiple rescheduling changes will be subject to a $15 fee.
If you are late for the start of a session you will not be given additional make up time; your session will end at its originally scheduled time. You will not be given any discount or receive a prorated charge if you are late for a session. You will be charged the normal fee amount for a session, whether you are on time for the session or not. If you are not on time for a session we will wait 10 minutes for you to show up. If you have not joined the online conversation session within 10 minutes, we will officially terminate that session. Sessions that are terminated because of a no-show will not be refunded.
Usage in Other Forms
Some of the content of a life help session may be used by us in other formats, including but not limited to, future books, blog posts, and public discussions. One example of how this might work (this example does not represent all possible usage) would be a question asked, and the answer provided, during a life help session being used in a future book and / or blog post. In the event that we do use the content of a life help session in the manner being discussed within this section, the identity of the life help session participant will not be revealed by us; and so, insofar as our actions are concerned, the life help session participant will remain completely anonymous. No form of compensation will be provided for life help session content used in the manner discussed within this section.
Life Help Book
It is important, essential even, for life help session participants to be familiar with the concepts described in Thomas Williams’ life help book Metaphysical Truths: Problems Aren’t Real. These concepts are what Thomas will be working from in offering life help insights and advice during sessions, and any participant who is unfamiliar with these concepts will be helped much less than if they were familiar. In fact, unfamiliarity may very well lead to significant confusion and even frustration during a life help session. Aside from this we believe Problems Aren’t Real is an exceptional life help resource and very much worth reading — yes, we understand that we’re a biased source but we stand by our opinion. So please take time to read Metaphysical Truths: Problems Aren’t Real prior to scheduling a life help session. We believe you’ll be glad you did.
Accepting Terms and Future Updates
By ordering and / or participating in a life help session, you agree to all life help session terms, policies, and conditions. We reserve the right to update, change, or otherwise modify life help session terms, policies, and conditions, at our discretion. Your participation in a life help session following any update, change, or modification to life help session terms, policies, and conditions will constitute your acceptance of updated, changed, or modified life help session terms, policies, and conditions.
